Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar is expected to hold an important press conference at 4:00pm Thursday 29-01-2014.
LAHORE – Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar forwarded his resignation to the federal government on Wednesday night, Dunya News reported.
Talking to Dunya News’ Head of Political Affairs Salman Ghani, Chaudhry Sarwar confirmed that he has stepped down from governor’s post due to several reservations which the government failed to address.
He is expected to hold an important press conference at 4:00pm today.
Sarwar, a former British MP, gave up his British nationality in August 2013 to serve as Governor of Punjab on the invitation of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leadership.
Having served as Labour Party Member of Parliament in Glasgow for 13 years (from 1997 till 2010), Chaudhry Sarwar comes with the experience of legislation besides having been a successful businessman.
He was also the first Muslim to sit in the British parliament.
